The Trial Audience Feedback
I saw a production of The Trial today at the Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton. I thought the production was magnificent - the cast stunned me with their concentration and precision. Not an easy play to bring to life - very wordy, in that there were huge chunks of polemic,many abstract concepts to absorb; but the director and cast are to be congratulated in the way they both illuminated the words and entertained us while doing so.
The design of both set and costumes had the three colours that work so well together, black red and white. The combination has an elegance - borrowed from nature - Japanese Cranes are an excellent example. But the use of the structures to create the settings and the transposition from one setting to another, was so clever - both from the director and the actors; and the lighting was superb.
This is my first viewing of one of the company's productions. I cannot believe I have missed so many - but I can assure you you I will do my utmost to see future shows. I get thrilled by the sort of ensemble work that you do - to me it is the satisfying work to watch, and I expect to take part in.
